Sam Adams is a classic Boston beer brand. Their Boston roots are so strong that Sam Adams is actually a brand under the Boston Beer Company umbrella. Since Sam Adams is one of the first of the current craft beer brewers, they’ve had a number of tap handles.
Sam Adams has a few beers that are not served in kegs. Because of this, they haven’t produced any tap handles for these beers. This is the case with their Utopia beers (often referred to as the Sam Adams $200 beer).
Current Tap Handles
Sam Adams currently has five different tap handles that are used for ten different types of beers. The tap handles are for Boston Lager, Rebel IPA, Sam ’76, and their Seasonal Beers. The standard seasonal options are Seasonal, Winter Lager, Hopscape, Summer Ale, Fresh as Helles, and Octoberfest. They also have Sam Adams chalkboard tap handles at some locations.
Previous and Vintage Tap Handles
Sam Adams tap handles have had eight primary styles for their tap handles. The styles of beer tap handles they currently use are three corner tap handles with silver ribbon accent (Boston Lager, and Sam ’76), Three corner tap handles without ribbon accent (Seasonal beers), Specialty or figural tap handles (Spray paint can for Rebel IPA), Pub style chalkboard tap handles (Rotating beers at select locations).
The older styles of tap handle that Sam Adams has used are:
Three corner tap handles with brass ribbon accent
Three corner tap handles with angular edges
Pub style tap handles with square top
Pub style tap handles with rounded top
Tap Handle Materials
Older Sam Adams tap handles are mostly made out of wood. The newer Sam Adams tap handles are made out of resin, wood, metal and other materials.
